PS, I hope this is not posting 3 times!

Dear Sharon,
Wow, do I completely relate to your bibliophilia!
When I was about the same age, my mother would go on a several-hour shopping expedition at the local department store (Gertz)…..she would deposit me in the bookstore nook, which was a surprisingly well-stocked corner of the store hidden away from the more “important” areas, such as furniture, jewelry, perfumes and fancy clothes.
It was where I discovered “The Hobbit” and LOTR, and at least 4 years before Bashki came out with his animated “Th Hobbit,” which helped usher in the “third age” of LOTR-philia, which has not truly abated since.
Anyway, thanks for this post and the insights/reminiscences shared.
