Wow, do I completely relate to your bibliophilia!
When I was about the same age, my mother would go on a several-hour shopping expedition at the local department store (Gertz).....she would deposit me in the bookstore nook, which was a surprisingly well-stocked corner of the store hidden away from the more &quot;important&quot; areas, such as furniture, jewelry, perfumes and fancy clothes.
It was where I discovered &quot;The Hobbit&quot; and LOTR, and at least 4 years before Bashki came out with his animated &quot;Th Hobbit,&quot; which helped usher in the &quot;third age&quot; of LOTR-philia, which has not truly abated since.
Anyway, thanks for this post and the insights/reminiscences shared.
